Android is my mobile OS of choice. I like that Android provides a lot of opportunity to tinker and customize. I use Tasker to automate a lot of things, like turning the mobile radio on or off depending on whether or not Wi-Fi is connected, turning VPN and private DNS on or off depending on the network connection, and turning the ringer on or off depending on which Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth device are connected.
One theme reiterated throughout the session was that Linux ID is a technology stack, not a fixed policy. Different communities, from the core kernel to other Linux Foundation projects, will be able to choose which issuers they trust, what level of proof they require for different roles, and whether AI agents can act under delegated credentials to perform automated tasks like continuous integration or patch testing.

On top of that news, Google had announcements of its own to make at Unpacked regarding new Android AI features, which will of course be available on S26 devices. On those handsets and the Pixel 10 lineup, the Gemini app will soon have a feature (in beta) that enables you to offload multi-step tasks, such as booking a ride or putting a grocery order together, to AI. It sure sounds like an attempt to build out agentic AI features on mobile devices.
